Currently, is Technical Assistant for Scientific and Technological Research V of the Butantan Institute, at the Bacteriology Laboratory. She finished the Direct Doctorate in Microbiology at the University of São Paulo in 2009, with an emphasis on Virology. For ten years, however, has been developing research projects related to the pathogenesis and virulence mechanisms of diarrhogenic Escherichia coli.

He is a PhD in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology) by the Federal University of São Paulo (1992), postdoctoral staff in Protein Chemistry at the University of Southern California (1994-1996). He is currently a full researcher (AST5-F) at the Ezequiel Dias Foundation. He has experience in biochemistry of macromolecules, with emphasis on protein structure and elucidation of the mechanism of action. The main focus are active components of venoms animal (snakes, spiders) with action on the haemostatic mechanism and extracellular matrix (ECM) interaction. Proteins with enzymatic activity (metalloproteases, serine proteases, 1-amino acid oxidases, phospholipases A2, among others) and enzyme-free derivatives (disintegrins, lectins) are included.

PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of São Paulo and associate researcher at the Laboratory of Applied Toxinology (LETA) and Coordinator of the Center for Bionformatics and Computational Biology at the Butantan Institute. Interested in machine learning and neural networks models for predicting biomarkers and bioactive peptides, based on the integration of multi-omics large-scale data from Homo sapiens and non-model organisms, such as venomous and pathogenic animals related to public health, for understanding the molecular mechanisms that govern biological systems.

Scientific Researcher (Level VI) at the Instituto Butantan. Selma earned her doctorate in Sciences and her post-doctorate in Anatomy of Wild Animals from the School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at the University of São Paulo. She has vast background in Animal Reproduction and is primarily interested in understanding how the incidence of snakebites is influenced by snake biological variables, such as sexual maturity, ontogeny, and activity pattern. She also investigates the reproductive cycles and evolution of reproductive strategies of snakes and lizards.
